IIT (ISM) is located in India’s major coking coal belt, approximately 260 kilometers from Kolkata. The institute's campus covers a vast area of 393 acres, consisting of 218 acres of developed infrastructure and an additional 175 acres currently under acquisition and development. The campus is fully residential, providing students with state-of-the-art facilities that are on par with leading academic institutions worldwide.
Founded with the primary objective of offering specialized education in mining, IIT (ISM) has undergone significant transformation over the years. It has evolved from a mining-focused institute into a comprehensive technical university of global standing. Today, IIT (ISM) offers a diverse range of programs across multiple disciplines, including Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.), Master of Technology (M.Tech.), Master of Science Technology (M.Sc. Tech.), and Master of Business Administration (MBA), preparing students for various careers in technology, science, and management.
IIT (ISM) is governed under the provisions of the Institute of Technology Act, 1961, which ensures the institute's smooth functioning and adherence to the same standards as other IITs across India. The administrative oversight is provided by the IIT Council, the highest governing body for all IITs in the country. This Council is chaired by the Honourable Minister of Education, Government of India, ensuring consistent policy implementation and governance across all IITs, including IIT (ISM).

Step 1: Register & Appear for JEE Main Exam:
The first step in gaining admission to IIT (ISM) is to register for the JEE Main exam. Once registered, you need to appear for the exam as per the scheduled date.
Step 2: Qualify JEE Main & Appear for JEE Advanced:
After successfully clearing the JEE Main exam, the next milestone is qualifying for the JEE Advanced exam. Only those who perform well in JEE Main are eligible to sit for JEE Advanced.
Step 3: Register for JoSAA Counseling & Fill Choices:
Once you have cleared the JEE Advanced exam, the next step is to participate in the JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counseling process. During this phase, you will need to register and fill in your preferred choices for institutes and programs.
Step 4: Seat Allotment by JoSAA:
Based on your rank, preferences, and availability of seats, JoSAA will conduct the seat allotment process. This step determines which IIT and program you will be admitted to.
Step 5: Report at Allotted College & Pay the Fee:
Finally, after the seat allotment, you must report to the allotted IIT (e.g., IIT Bombay) and complete the admission formalities, including paying the required fees.

1. Registration & Job Posting
The Placement Office invites organizations and assigns a point of contact. Recruiters register on the placement portal by making the required payment and post job or internship opportunities, making them visible to students.
2. Job Verification & Student Access
The Placement Office verifies the details of the job postings to ensure accuracy. Once verified, the job listings are made accessible to students online, allowing them to explore and apply for these opportunities.
3. Student Applications & Shortlisting
Interested students apply for the available positions. Companies then review the resumes and shortlist candidates, proceeding with tests and screenings in coordination with the Placement Office.
4. Interviews & Offers
The Placement Office schedules final interviews based on company preferences. After interviews, organizations provide a list of students receiving offers, marking the transition to the offer stage.
5. Offer Finalization & Communication
Organizations submit their final list of selected students to the Placement Office. The office coordinates the acceptance, and offer letters, along with job details, are delivered to the selected candidates.

A total of 1,054 offers were made, though some are non-unique.
993 students successfully secured placements.

1. Campus:
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Dhanbad boasts a modern and well-equipped campus, offering state-of-the-art infrastructure amidst a clean and green environment. 2. Library:
The library at IIT (ISM) Dhanbad is fully automated, offering a vast collection of academic resources. It holds 123,517 books and maintains 291 current journals along with 38,400 bound volumes of past journals. The library also includes over 10,203 theses and dissertations, numerous conference proceedings, and subscriptions to 14 national newspapers, catering to the diverse academic needs of students and faculty.
3. Hostel:
The institute provides comfortable hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostels offer shared rooms, ensuring a sense of community while maintaining a conducive environment for study and relaxation.
4. Sports Complex:
The campus is equipped with a wide range of sports facilities, including courts and grounds for badminton, basketball, cricket, football, squash, and tennis. Additionally, there is a swimming pool, a 400m track, and facilities for table tennis, promoting physical activity and recreation for students.
