Placement Overview

IIM Ahmedabad follows a student-driven placement process, where the Placement Committee plays a pivotal role in liaising between the administration, students, and recruiters.

Courses Involved

Placements are conducted for both the Post Graduate Program (PGP) and the Post Graduate Program in Food and Agri-Business Management (PGP-FABM).

Two Phases of Placements

IIM Ahmedabad conducts its placement process in two main phases:

• Summer Placements: Conducted in November/December for the first-year students. Managed by the second-year Placement Committee to ensure smooth operations and mentorship.
• Final Placements: Conducted in two stages for the graduating batch:
  • Lateral Process: Takes place in January, where companies interview students with prior work experience for mid-level managerial roles.
  • Final Placement Process: Conducted in February, managed by the newly elected Placement Committee from the first-year students (PGP1s) to avoid conflicts of interest and ensure fairness.

Diverse Opportunities

Companies from various sectors and geographical locations participate in the placement process, offering a wide range of functions and roles to the students.

Pre-placement Presentation by Companies

Companies conduct presentations to introduce themselves, share information about their work culture, job roles, and expectations, and outline the opportunities available to students.

Submission of Resumes

Students prepare and submit their resumes to the companies they are interested in, highlighting their skills, experiences, and academic achievements.

Short-listing of Candidates

Companies review the submitted resumes and shortlist candidates based on their qualifications and fit for the role. These shortlisted candidates are then invited for further recruitment processes.

Lateral Interviews

For candidates with prior work experience, lateral interviews are conducted. These interviews typically focus on the candidate's professional background and how it aligns with the company's needs.

Pre-processes by the Companies

Companies may conduct various preliminary processes such as aptitude tests, group discussions, or case studies to further evaluate the candidates' skills and suitability for the role.

Interviews

The final stage of the recruitment process involves interviews where candidates are assessed on their technical knowledge, problem-solving abilities, and overall fit with the company's culture.

Campus

Academic Facilities

Academic facilities at IIM Ahmedabad include multiple Academic Blocks. These blocks house classrooms, seminar rooms, faculty offices, and administrative departments, ensuring that the educational needs of the community are met with high standards. The Administrative Buildings are designed to provide efficient and comfortable working environments, equipped with modern technology to support the institute's operations.

Student Housing

Student housing at IIM Ahmedabad consists of 27 dormitories that accommodate 740 students. Each dormitory features ten single rooms per floor, arranged around a central stairway and a tearoom, fostering a sense of community among residents. Additionally, the campus offers 120 flats for married students, ensuring that their accommodation needs are well catered to. Faculty housing has also been expanded with recently constructed apartment blocks to accommodate the growing faculty, allowing all faculty members to reside on campus.

Sports Facilities

IIM Ahmedabad offers a wide range of sports facilities:
Outdoor Sports: Facilities include courts for tennis, volleyball, frisbee, basketball, a football field, a cricket pitch, and jogging and cycling tracks.
Indoor Sports: Includes a swimming pool, squash courts, a snooker room, indoor badminton courts, and board games.
Gymnasiums & Yoga Rooms: Multiple gyms and yoga studios are available for physical fitness and mental well-being.

Community Services

IIM Ahmedabad provides a range of community services, including an on-campus dispensary with full-time residential doctors for routine health issues and injuries, offering basic treatment and referrals to city specialists. The campus also has a bank branch, ATM, Post Office, courier services, All-Needs Store, and a pharmacy for convenience. Accessibility for differently-abled students is ensured with ramps, railings, high-power lighting, high contrast signage, and elevators.

Social Groups and Initiatives

IIM Ahmedabad is committed to social responsibility through various initiatives such as:
SMILE (Student-Mediated Initiative for Learning to Excel): A supplementary education/resource center for underprivileged students in collaboration with the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation.
PRAYAAS: A social initiative helping underprivileged children access education and a better future since 2003.
PAWSIBLE: A student club dedicated to the welfare of animals on campus, reflecting the IIMA community's compassion for animals.
