This guide provides a clear and concise roadmap for aspiring students to follow to secure a place at IIT Roorkee.

Step 1: Register and Appear for JEE Main Exam:

Candidates must first register for the Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Main and appear for the exam. This is the initial screening test for engineering aspirants in India and is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

Step 2: Qualify JEE Main and Appear for JEE Advanced Exam:

After successfully qualifying in the JEE Main exam, candidates become eligible to appear for the JEE Advanced exam. This exam is the gateway for admission into the Indian Institutes of Technology (IITs), including IIT Rorkee.

Step 3: Register for JoSAA Counseling and Fill Choices:

Candidates who qualify in the JEE Advanced exam must register for the Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA) counseling. During this process, they are required to fill in their preferences for courses and IITs or other participating institutes.

Step 4: Seat Allotment by JoSAA:

The JoSAA conducts a centralized seat allotment process based on the candidates' JEE Advanced ranks and their filled choices. Seats are allocated in multiple rounds, depending on the availability and candidates' preferences.

Step 5: Report to Allotted College and Pay Fee:

Once a seat is allotted, candidates must report to the designated college or institute within the given time frame. They must also pay the required fees to confirm their admission and complete the enrollment process.

PHASE-I

Companies or organizations receive an invitation with job details and an annexure via email or post. They must complete and return the annexure to the Training and Placement Office (TPO) at IIT Roorkee. The information from the annexure is then shared with students on Placement Online. A date for the Pre-Placement Talk (PPT) is arranged with the company, and students are notified of the schedule. The company visits the campus for the PPT and may also conduct selections for summer internships on the same day.

PHASE-II:

The TPO assigns a date to the company based on student rankings, which consider the job profile, compensation package, recruitment history, and student feedback. The company can confirm or negotiate this date with TPO. Interested students register online, and their resumes are provided to the company if required. The company must send a list of shortlisted candidates to TPO before the campus selection.

PHASE-III:

On the scheduled date, the company conducts written tests, group discussions, or interviews. If the company cannot visit, video conferencing is available for interviews. The company must submit the final list of selected students promptly. Selected candidates may or may not be eligible for additional job interviews, as per the institute’s policy.

Placement Highlights(2023-24):

1. During IIT Roorkee 2024 Phase-I placements, 802 offers were made, including 23 international offers.
2. The highest domestic package for 2023-24 was 1.30 crore per annum and highest international package was 2.05 crore per annum.
3. A total of 172 companies visited the IIT Roorkee campus for placements in 2024. According to the Engineering NIRF Report 2024, the median salary packages for BTech and MTech placements in 2023 were INR 19.69 LPA and INR 12 LPA, respectively.
4. The Architecture & Planning NIRF Report 2024 stated that the median salary packages for BArch and MArch placements in 2023 were INR 9.25 LPA.
5. For MBA placements in 2023, the highest package was INR 27.94 LPA, and the average package was INR 18.34 LPA.

1. Campus:
